Roles, career pyramid and development framework
4 differentiated consulting vs. 2 advisor roles
In order to excel on high quality research, analysis and consulting, as well as the ability to build trusted relationships with our clients, partners and stakeholders, CMG aspires to be a talent-centric professional services boutique that affiliates its team members with its mission, values, personal development opportunities as well as co-ownership.
The CMG role and career pyramid below depicts our organizational set-up centered around key roles at CMG that enable us to best unlock both the firm’s and our individual potential. We separate between managerial vs. non-managerial roles.

To optimally support career progression and make the personal development we offer to young talents more tangible, our career development framework (shown below) depicts the six key development dimensions, each further detailed by six key skills-behaviors (not shown on chart) respectively, for each role at CMG.
We separate generalist vs. sector focused roles, with the Consultant level transitioning towards more sector specialization. This framework also functions as the basis for both CMG’s performance management (evaluating individual project performance) and career development processes (planning for your personal development towards the next role).
Finally, our framework is calibrated against career frameworks of leading international management / strategy consulting firms regarding titles, progression timelines and - in part, while reflecting CMG's own specialized model - the specific skills-behaviors.

Recruiting calendar
CMG is recruiting for its Associate Program in two yearly cycles, each time centered on a digital recruiting event (DRE), which is an information event where CMG presents its business model, values, people, and shares some reflections on consulting, as well as an illustrative case example to allow for a more meaningful dialogue between CMG and candidates.
The next digital recruiting events (DRE) will take place on:
-
Wednesday, November 5, 2026
-
Wednesday, June 2, 2027
-
Wednesday, November 24, 2027
Please submit your application for a specific cycle at the latest one week before the digital recruiting event.
After the digital recruiting event, you will receive a self-reflection questionnaire for you to fill in about the discussions you participated in during the event, as well as to capture some of your personal information. If we see the potential for a mutual fit (cf. requirements as defined in the job description), we will invite you to a subsequent first round interview to discuss your self-reflection, get a personal impression, and jointly explore a possible fit of your profile with our needs. Upon a positive outcome, you will be invited to a case-study interview. We strive to complete these various process steps within 3 to 4 weeks.

Joining as a (Senior) Analyst
Applicants interested in a (Senior) Analyst role with CMG can reach out to us anytime during the year. -
We share with you a short CMG explainer video to enable you to fill in a self-reflection questionnaire
-
Upon positive assessment, a CMG representative will conduct a personal touchpoint call with you to gain a first personal impression, clarify our questions regarding your questionnaire answers, and understand your motivation and needs

If the process continues, we will follow up with a case-study exercise, which you will prepare and present to CMG colleagues for discussion according to a mutually agreed timeline.
